A few days ahead the Pacman-Mayweather fight, Congressman and boxer Manny Pacquiao created a televised pledge to Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday, April 27, 2015, to withdraw the execution of Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipina who is accused of drug trafficking and on the death row.
In a live interview in GMA News TV's Balitanghali, Pacquiao said that he was speaking on behalf of the Filipinos.
"I am begging and knocking on your heart that your excellency will grant executive clemency to her by sparing her life and saving her from execution," Pacquiao said.
Veloso's execution is scheduled on Tuesday, after being found of heroin with 2.6 kilograms on her luggage in 2010 when she was in Yogyakarta Airport. She proclaimed that she had not known that the drugs were I'm her suitcase.

In an interview, President Aquino said last Sunday that he will speak with Widodo about the said case in their meeting in Malaysia for the ASEAN Summit.
